Niyet is developed and published by Obsy Mobile LLC. A small team; we write every section of the app and every line of its text ourselves.

Principles

In an app for worship, the decisions show as much in what we leave out as in what we add. The following are not preferences for us but limits.

No ads
There should be no advert at the edge of the screen while you read a verse. The app is therefore funded by subscription rather than advertising, and connects to no ad network.
Offline first
The Qur'an text, translations, dhikr and hadith ship with the app, and prayer times are calculated on the device. Our servers do not need to be up for the app to work.
A calm interface
No tap ripples, no stacked shadows, no bouncing animation. There are badges and streaks, but none of them were built to produce guilt — a day you missed does not meet you in red.
Content with clean licensing
The backgrounds are not photographs but patterns drawn by the app’s own painting layer. Every external source we use is credited inside the app, on the relevant screen.
We do not issue rulings
The zakat section is a calculator; "Ask a Scholar" informs. Neither replaces a qualified scholar, and the app states that distinction plainly.
Little data
We do not make you create an account and ask for no email address, password or phone number. The photo you take to unlock focus never leaves your device. Every item of data we collect is listed one by one in the privacy policy.

Both are equally valuable to us. A real person reads every email you send.
